Farewell Mr Chuck

Things have been a lot sad around our house, & especially our neighborhood. If you remember me talking about our wonderful neighbor Mr Chuck, as Jax called him. Chuck fought a very brave battle against Leukemia & passed away very recently. We all miss him dearly, but am so thankful that he is no longer suffering & knew the beautiful place where he was headed. Chuck had a beautiful Full Military honored service. He has 4 amazing sons. When I say amazing, just real GOOD men he raised. They are obviously heart broken. One of them shared w/ Greg that before his dad passed away his son asked him, "Dad, how am I going to make it without cha dad." Chuck told him, "You just do. You be there for your son, like I've been there for you. You just do." Those boys, well men really, are in our thoughts & prayers, especially with Father's Day this weekend. It was pretty fitting one of Mr. Chucks songs at his funeral was "That's My Job," by the late Conway Twitty. Great song for an even greater man. We will miss you Chuckles!
Chuck's family put on a beautiful get together after his memorial service. We all changed into our nice casual clothes, flip-flops & T-shirts, just like Chuck would have wanted. My sweet man stayed all spiffied up to show respect to his friend though. Greg took this pretty hard. He really admired Chuck, & Chuck loved him. The super funny thing is... when we moved in... they both thought the other was a big ole grump. They shared that with each other soon after they became buds, & laughed about it many times. Just goes to show... don't judge people you truly don't know.
My two handsome men.
It was one sad beautiful day.
a little of,
~That's My Job~
I woke up crying late at night
when I was very young.
I had dreamed my father
had passed away and gone.
My world revolved around him
I couldnt lay there anymore.
So I made my way down the mirrored hall
and tapped upon his door.
And I said "Daddy, I'm so afraid
how will I go on with you gone that way?
Don't wanna cry anymore
so may I stay with you?"
And he said "That's my job,
that's what I do.
Everything I do is because of you,
To keep you safe with me.
That's my job you see."
Jaxy & Mr. Chuck
Was just this kind of guy...

Awe, Sweet Mel. I'm so sorry, I love that shot of him. It really captures all that you said. I also love the ones with Jaxy with his daddy's hand on his head. That's such a emotional image. Love it so much. I'm saying a prayer for you right now. I pray that your hearts mend and that God gives you guys peace. I know it's not easy losing someone.

It is so sad when someone passes, even if I didn't know him I really feel awful about. Knowing that there are families mourning the loss of a loved one breaks my heart. I'm glad you guys had the joy of meeting each other and sharing a short time here on this earth together. Just from reading this post I know you inspired him as much as he inspired you and I know Jax was also a big part of his life. I hope his family is holding up well. It's a terrible thing to lose someone so special and kind. Here for you girly. ♥
